Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th, 1980) is an American actress, singer and dancer. In her early Broadway roles, she played the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her role as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh Ashley, Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with actors and directors both on screen and stage for her entire career. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC in the form of it becomes a Hulu Original. Ashford will return in 2023, and will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the production. Ashford's latest part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. She was in two seasons of the hit CBS comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin as well as Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford is a native of Denver.
